This is probably not a very reliable source but it does the job of giving an overview of the kinds of languages that are spoken in Oman:
Languages in Oman
Some of these languages are dying and some are extremely endangered. Language is not just spoken or written words, it carries culture and identity and if it dies, then so does the culture with all its beauty. I hope something will be done to save these exotic languages!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine just tipped me off to your blog (specifically the post about Jabbali going extinct) and now I've started poking around your archives. I noticed that your most recent post is 2012 and am wondering if your still pursuing linguistic interests in Oman. If you are, I'd love to hear what you've been up to, and if you happen to be involved in any language documentation/conservation projects. Thanks!
Lyss
Hi Lyss,
ReplyDeleteThanks for passing by!
Oh yes, I'm still interested in linguistics especially in the Omani context. However, as you've noticed I haven't blogged in months. I've been exteremly busy in the last couple of months, but yes I will be getting back to blogging soon insha'Allah.
Are you inetersted in linguistics yourself? If you want, we can stay in touch. Send me an email at: linguistics.oman(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks again for stopping by!
